Overview of Ethiopia
The country Ethiopia has one of the largest areas and populations in Africa; however, many of its citizens are left in poverty and without the essential services that they require, such as education, health care, and infrastructure. While some corruption within the political system and wars and border conflicts with Eritrea have diverted resources away from the provision of these essential services, Ethiopians are unable to make up the difference themselves, so they are forced to live in poverty and suffer through the inadeqaute provision these services. The government is currently working with aid programs to increase economic development and economic growth in Ethiopia and also utilizes both market based and interventionist policies in order to help Ethiopia become closer reaching the status of a developed country. Although Ethiopia is working towards this goal, it has a long way to go in terms of economic development and growth to reach this status.
